Take A Stand Project 2013-2014

Take a Stand Project The Take a Stand Project  gives students a platform to share their reasons for not drinking or using drugs.  On a 12×12 dry erase board, students complete the following sentence:  “I am taking a stand against alcohol and drugs because…”  Breakout staff take pictures of each student,  and their statement, and upload them to the Breakout Facebook page.    To date, 793 students have participated.

Marijuana: The Truth Hurts

Over the past several years, alcohol and tobacco use among teens has steadily gone down. That’s the good news. The bad news is that by the time Jackson County youth have reached the 11th grade, approximately 42 percent of them have used marijuana. Additionally, eight percent of Jackson County youth have tried marijuana before the age of 13.
